Unearth Buried Treasures On The Beach Using A Metal Detector

Beaches are an ideal spot for any of us who enjoy the metal detecting hobby. If you are fortunate enough to live near a beach, you probably have seen many people with metal detectors searching the sand in hope of finding lost old coins or other valuable items, such as anything gold or silver. A beach can be a heaven for metal detecting, because the chances are good that some neat items are waiting to be found, lost and left behind from the many visitors enjoying the summer. Metal detecting hobbyists and coin collectors can take advantage of looking on beaches for vintage coins or lost treasures even if there are other people doing the same thing.

A busy area of the beach will mean that you probably will find more trash than other areas. This discourages many detectorists who feel like they will only find trash and nothing of value. Well, the busy areas are also where a lot of people are, so if you stick to it, and don’t mind discarding a few non-valuable items you find, you could get lucky and find some really good coins or other items of value. Don’t rush yourself. Take your time when searching the beach. You don’t have to be in a hurry to comb the entire beach in a single day. Managing your time wisely can benefit you, because you also want to make sure you have enough time to accurately evaluate the items you find, to see if they’re worth keeping or not . Hopefully you’ll find some coins with your cheap metal detector!

Perhaps an even better strategy is combing the beach areas that get a good amount of traffic, but are not the busiest sections of the beach. These areas might be searched less often by other metal detectors and coin hunters. These kinds of areas might be trails near the beach where people walk their dog, hike, or jog. Maybe a secluded area of the beach where people fish or surf. A beach where there is no lifeguard on duty can be a good place to search, in my opinion, because most average detectorists wouldn’t even search those areas because they think the area doesn’t get many visitors.

Scheduling your metal detecting hunts is also important. Most people have full-time jobs that make it impossible for them to go to the beach until their days off. You can take advantage of this and start your beach searching on Friday nights and you’ll beat the other coin hunters who show up early the next morning. You should also try detecting on some Sunday nights. Fewer searchers will be out on Sunday night looking for coins and stuff.

Searching for old lost coins or treasure with your metal detector can be relaxing, very fun, and monetarily rewarding if you do it right. You might see some competition on the beach, but you will be ahead of the game if you have some strategies the other hunters don’t use. Eventually you’ll find your own favorite secret spots where you have good success.
